I have been really busy lately, so I have not had a chance to write, but the girls have been doing all kinds of new stuff! :) Sydney started eating rice cereal last month when she turned 4 months. She is not a big fan of it, but she will occasionally eat a couple bites of it. Sunday I gave her bananas for the first time and she couldn't get enough of it! Even though I have done this before, every child is different and I am figuring out how Syd like to eat her cereal and fruit, you know together or separate and the thickness of it all. She is also starting to teeth, not my favorite developmental milestone, but I guess she has to go through it. She has not been too bad, just a little whiny at times. It will be so cute when that first little tooth pops through! Sydney is also on the move these days (uh oh!) She is rolling from both back to front and front to back, but she prefers to sit up and let me tell you she is so nosey! She watches every little thing these days and is not really interested in nursing unless she is too tired to look around and play. We are working on the sleeping through the night thing. She is still in our room in the bassinet, however last week she slept two nights in a row from 9 to 5am. Then we went away this past weekend and I screwed her schedule all up. So, we are hoping that this week we can get her back on schedule and into her room she goes this weekend :(
Anna, where do I start about Anna? Yesterday morning she came running out of her room (yes she can open door knobs now all by herself, yippee!) at 6:30am yelling " I did it! I did it mommy!" As I am straining to open my eyes I discover that she is carrying the bowl from her little potty filled with pee spilling all over the place! I was excited that she woke up and got her diaper and pants off and peed in the potty all by herself, but unfortunately she woke everyone up in the process. Of course I jumped out of bed and sang her the potty song that Greg found and she loves when he sings it to her! "My big girl went to the potty today, daddy's happy yay yay yay, we're marching to the big girl song, we're marching to the potty!" I decided to leave her run around the house pant less since we were not going anywhere thinking that she would sit on the potty and pee when she needed to go. She has been going pee on the potty 3-4 times a day sometimes on her own and sometimes we tell her to try to go. Well, Sam and her were outside on the porch playing (it's kind of like a large play pen), when Sam comes in and tells me, "mom, Anna pooped on the porch!" I look out on the porch and there it was, at least it was in a nice little pile for me. She must have squatted down and went. After that little incident it was to the diaper we went! I guess it is two steps forward, one step back with these things. Why is potty training so difficult? I feel like I have been doing it for years between Sam and Anna together! I can only dream of a day when we will no longer have to buy or change diapers!
